Now Open · The Pearl District, Portland

Chef Brian Malarkey's loud love letter to Portland.
What is The Malarkey
The Malarkey is chef Brian Malarkey's homecoming: a wood-fired Pacific Northwest steak and seafood restaurant in Portland's Pearl District, in the former Oba! space. Rather than another traditional steakhouse, it's built as a celebration of Oregon, Portland's quirky personality, and the Malarkey family's own story.
Energetic and theatrical, with serious cooking under the playful exterior — coast, forest and ranch on the plate, and old-Portland music, film and nightlife on the walls. Wander in. Don't expect to leave the same.

Locally sourced wood-fired steaks, whole fish off the fire, a raw bar stacked on ice — proteins kissed by the flame, with José "Lalo" Camarena's Mexican-American swerve.
Family-style, generous, meant to be shared.
Pull up under the golden stag. A proof-and-zero-proof cocktail list that doesn't take itself too seriously — the Oba & Tonic, DB Cooper's Campfire, and the namesake Malarkey — poured alongside a deep, Oregon-forward wine list and Pacific Northwest beer and cider on tap. Come early, stay late.
Birthdays, rehearsal dinners, and full buyouts worth closing the doors for. The psychedelic forest private dining room is built for groups who want the place to themselves — big family-style menus, the full bar program, and a night nobody forgets.
Bubblegum-pink walls, a replica of the vintage Jantzen Beach diving sign, a golden stag over the bar, concert posters for the city's music history, and a vintage motorcycle overlooking the lounge. Dinner as theater.
